Joseph Waldron. He was born in 1847and was a shoemaker by trade. He married Sarah, who was also born in 1847. Together the couple had three children...Benjamin, John and William.
John Waldron married Bridget Traynor, who was born in 1871. Together John and Bridget had daughters Alice and Delia Traynor (Delia became our paternal grandmother).
Delia we think was born in March 1896. She became the mother of William Ronald Matthews (our father who now art in heaven...). Later Delia married George Clary...they lived for many years at 20 Bassano Street, off Lordship Lane. East Dulwich. London.
Interesting note: This house was sold in November 2004 for the princely sum of £137.500.
Together Delia and George had daughter Bedelia (known as Biddy) and son James George (known as Jimmy), he was born in 1933. Biddy married Theo Watson and together they had son Geoffrey and daughter Gillian (known as Jill).
Now...moving on to the ancestry of the mother of Christine and Shirley...Lily Pendar.
The roots of the Burling family (leading on to the Pendar connection) are complex and uncertain.
*In the 'Bobbingworth Parish Registers' 1559-1753 there's a marriage recorded between a Thomas Burling and a lady named Ann Man dated October 25th 1644.
*In the 'Parish Registers of Ongar Essex' 1558-1750 there's a John Burling listed as being buried in Chipping Ongar on 13th April 1684.

*The root we are following is of a William 1744 and Edward Burlin 1720. This is because an older and believed wiser family member thinks that this is the right track...and who are we to argue! Often the spelling of surnames become distorted over the years, so that's nowt to go by.
Edward Burlin married Mary. They had offspring William 18/4/1755, Thomas 10/5/1757, Edward 4/5/1760 and Elizabeth 1/7/1764
William Burlin married Elizabeth Hyles. 24/12/1776. They had offspring Elizabeth 25/4/1806, William 29/9/1778, Thomas 12/3/1780, Mary 14/4/1782, James 6/10/1795 and finally Hannah 10/4/1792. Obviously TV hadn't been invented then!
Elizabeth married Isaac Searle...they were without offspring (despite the fact that there was still no telly).

John Burlin married Jane Clayden in 1845 and then later, Rebecca Nash in 1883. John and Jane had offspring William 25/12/1845, Sarah 8/9/1847, Boy (unnamed) 10/2/1849. Eliza 24/1/1850, John 11/1/1852, James 2/12/1852, Susan 2/1/1855, Alice 1/11/1857 and finally Ellen 18/5/1862.
I'm surprised that father John had the energy to wed a second time after that...
* Records show that the G became added to the Burlin surname at around this time.

He then worked for Hoover (Slogan: Hoover beats as it sweeps as it cleans...all the dirt all the grit, Hoover gets it every bit, for it beats as is sweeps as it clean etc'). He died in September 1972. They had offspring Patricia Elizabeth (Betty) 5/8./1907. Stanley Humphry 14/12/1928 and Eric Douglas 18/2/1939. They also adopted a son, Anthony Keith.
Elizabeth Hilda (known as Hilda) married Albert Edward Frank Steel in April 1938. Together they had daughter Patricia Anne (Patsy) 21/11/43. Patricia married Michael Gerald Stock-Ledwidge (Born 14/6/1946) on 30/12/2002 in Mauritius. They moved from south east London to Mirepoix in France on 20th October 2007. Note: Recent attempts (2017) to trace Pat and her husband have drawn a blank.
Betty Burling married Theo/Bill. Betty lived in North Wales for many years, following Bill's retirement. Theo died in February 2007.
Stanley married Sylvia. Stan was a schoolmaster. Sylvia a radiographer. Together they had offspring Anthony Michael and John Douglas. Anthony Michael, a chartered surveyor, married Helen Brothwood. They had sons Marcus George 7/9/92 and Rory Douglas 3/4/95.
John Douglas was born blind, but attained an honours degree in computing. He married Julia and together they had sons Ross Alan 3/5/87 and Kieran Danial 25/11/88 and a daughter, Lorna Alison 11/8/92.
Eric Douglas (Dr Phd..pharmaceutical chemist) married Marjorie Smith. They had sons Stuart and Russell. Russell a sports instructor, has his own business.
Stuart a warrant officer in the Marines, married Nicola and had daughter Jessica.
Anthony Keith (known as Keith) married Jennifer and they had offspring Kate, Hannah and Neil.

May Victoria Burling married Frederick Pendar 14/7/1870 in September 1/9/1918 in Depford. London.
Fred had been born in a Norfolk village, Skeyton, near Norwich.
His marriage to May Victoria was his second marriage. It is believed that his first wife ( Ellen Gray 4/7/1870) died. They had been married in Walworth, London 14/2/1894.
At some stage in his life Fred was employed as an industrial sewing machine salesman. He is also known to have spent time in Yorkshire.
There was family opposition to May's marriage to Fred due to the large age difference (27 years). Frederick Pendar died in Clevedon in November 1957 aged 87. May Victoria died in Clevedon 15/2/1968.

An opinion based upon historical research is that Percy Frederick Pinder 14/7/1870 and Frederick Pendar are one and the same person. Records show that Percy was a grocer 1892-1896. *There were apparently two daughters born by Fred's first marriage. Annie Ethel and Lucy Ellen. Also a son Percy (who died 5/6/1984) but these potential family links have not been verified...
Frederick Pendar and May Victoria had a son, Frederick William Douglas 21/6/1920 (known as Derick) and a daughter, Lilian May (known as Lily) May 8th (year uncertain).
NOTE: Whilst Fred and May were married they lived in Clevedon, and ran a Guest House on the sea front. This house being known as Victoria House.
Derick Pendar married Joan Foster. The after divorce married Lucy. Derick and Lucy had daughter Pippa and son Bill.

Interesting note: This house was sold in April 2002 for £145,000...when Lily moved to a ground floor flat that was more easily managed.

Christine had a relationship with Alan Edwin Reginald Pumford...the relationship lasted a couple of years. Together they had a son, Anthony David (born August 14th 1965). Chris and Tony lived together (at various addresses) in Bristol.
When Tony was 25 he had a son with girlfriend Joanne Stiddard. Kristopher Dean Stiddard was born 7th July 1990.
Joanne and Tony split up when Kristopher was very young. Tony then settled down with partner Wendy Vardakis (who had two adult sons by a previous marriage). The couple live in Clevedon.
Kris's mother Joanne later married Lee Galsworthy and together they had twin daughters Georgina and Jade. Kristopher and partner Becca have sons Tyler (2010) and Rhys (2012).
Christine's first marriage was to Bryan Alfred Batt. They have a son, Bryan Richard Batt (known as Richard) born August 28th 1984. Bryan and Chris married on 11th April 1986...the marriage wasn't to last, but their shared friendship continues.
Bryan had been married previously and had daughters Linda Louise, Jacqueline Ann and Vivienne Jane. Linda married ‘Tony’ and they had daughters Kelly and Laura. Jackie married ‘Richard’ and had daughters Emily and Lily. Vivienne married ‘Tim’ and had a daughter Kiera and son Daniel.
Christine later married Adrian William Grinter on 14th July 1992. The marriages lasted for seven years and their friendship continues. Adrian had been married twice previously and had four children from those marriages.
Christine married Stephen John Di Nucci on April 6th 2002. That marriage lasted less than a year. Steve's parents being Mary and Giovanni (John) Di Nucci. Steve had been married once previously and had a son Kevin by that marriage. Kevin married Michelle. Steve had two brothers...Paul married to Barbara, with one daughter, Helen. Younger brother Simon married 'Liz' and they have one daughter, Rachel.
Following divorce from Steve, Christine married Alan David Busvine on October 13th 2006.
Alan has a brother, Martin. Their parents being William and Irene. Martin married Tracey and had two daughters Laura and Gemma, and a son, Philip. Both Laura and Gemma are married with children.
Chris's marriage to Alan continues...
Shirley first married Royston Taylor and together they had daughters Sharon and Carolyn. That marriage wasn't to last. Shirley then married Geoff Cargill and together the couple had son Andrew.
Shirley's later marriage to Mike Bird continues...
